As the Credit Control Manager it is my job to monitor and control all HCU accounts that are in arrears in a fair and just manner.
Taking a holistic approach to credit control, I prioritise members debts and can signpost or liaise with external agencies on their behalf. I prepare reports and relevant paperwork and attend court if necessary.
I interview members; assess income and expenditure; authorise non-share based loans and set up payment plans with members who have fallen into arrears.
On a personal note - I have lived in Runcorn for just over 30 years. I am married with adult twin sons.
I have always taken an interest in the community where I live. From Local Residents association, Board member of Murdishaw Community Centre; CAB adviser and volunteer for Halton Credit Union Limited.
These interests held me in good stead when I felt the need to return to paid employment.
Almost 14 years ago, as I was already a volunteer for the Credit Union, I was given the opportunity to apply for a full-time post with HCU.
I am still here - I must say I love my job - I get a great deal of job satisfaction - to see the difference this organisation makes to local peoples’ lives is amazing.
Full-time employment does not leave a lot of time for interests - other than home and family - but I do like to travel (mostly Europe) and have recently started coin collecting (Numismatics) and having a go at origami dragons. I also like to go to the occasional antiques fair.
